Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Feason LLC, a California limited liability company (“Feason,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using feason.com, our mobile applications, or any related features (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Important: Section 18 requires most U.S. disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration and includes a jury-trial and class-action waiver. You may opt out within 30 days as explained in Section 18.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the Service and will require renewed acceptance before continued use.

You agree to receive notices about these Terms electronically, including through the Service or at the email address associated with your account. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes both you and the organization.

2. Eligibility

Where the Service is offered. The Service is available in supported countries and regions. It is not offered to, and is not directed at, persons located in:

• the European Economic Area (the European Union member states, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway);
• the United Kingdom;
• France or any French overseas department, region, collectivity, or territory.

By creating an account or using the Service, you represent that you are not located in an excluded location. We do not market the Service in those locations, and we may restrict access where required by law or where we do not support a country or region.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we will delete it.

Certain features are restricted by age. Direct messaging and personalized feed ranking are available only to members who are 18 or older, based on the date of birth provided on the account. Members under 18 receive the non-personalized Latest feed, and Feason does not create or retain a private feed-interest profile for them. You represent that the date of birth you provide is accurate; misrepresenting your age to access age-restricted features is a violation of these Terms.

You represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you are not barred from using the Service under the laws of your jurisdiction. You must also be old enough to consent to the processing of your personal information under applicable law, or have authorization from a parent or guardian where the law permits it.

3. Description of Service

Feason is a faith and theology platform offering scripture study tools, writings, community articles, journaling, scripture memorization, short community reflections, reading plans and groups, meditation, theology courses, Together journeys, direct messaging between members, private study and research workspaces, documented developer interfaces, AI-assisted conversation (the “Feasy,” “Feasy Evolved,” and “Lexicon” features), AI-assisted reflection on photos you submit (“Behold”), a note-taking surface for video you choose to watch (“Lecture,” whose notes are saved to your account when you are signed in and to your browser when you are not), voice transcription, live Flock voice rooms, church-location search, church organization profiles and publications, private-by-default person-to-church connections, plan-a-visit requests, church giving links, notifications, and related educational content. Consumer features are provided for personal, non-commercial, and educational use. Documented developer interfaces may be used for an organization or application only within the scopes, credentials, rate limits, documentation, and separate written terms Feason provides for that interface.

4. Accounts & Security

You are responsible for the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Keep your account information current, do not share or transfer your account, and notify us promptly of any suspected unauthorized use. We may require you to verify account ownership and may disable accounts that we reasonably believe have been compromised or used in violation of these Terms.

5. User Content & License

“User Content” means anything you post, upload, or submit to the Service, including published posts and saved drafts, forum threads, replies, comments, journal entries, scripture and lecture notes, course submissions, group and Together contributions, private study items, research projects and annotations, messages to the AI assistants, profile information, church profile or publication information you submit, plan-a-visit messages, and uploaded images.

You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant Feason a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your User Content solely as necessary to operate, maintain, and improve the Service and as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your User Content. Feason does not operate a program to train its own models on your private content; third-party AI providers process inputs under the provider-specific commercial terms and controls disclosed in the Privacy Policy.

This license lasts only as long as needed to provide the Service, except that limited copies may remain in backups, safety records, legal holds, or content another user has independently shared outside the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting User Content does not require another person to delete copies they made before deletion, except where applicable law requires deletion.

You represent and warrant that (a) you own your User Content or have the necessary rights to it, and (b) your User Content does not violate any law or infringe any third party's rights.

Link previews. When your User Content contains a URL, our server may fetch publicly available metadata from that URL (such as its title, description, and the domain it resolves to) and cache a short summary alongside your post so that other users can see what you shared. The cached summary is removed when you delete the post. We do not re-host images from the destination site; summaries are stored as plain text.

6. AI, Voice & Safety Disclaimer

The Service offers AI-powered features (“AI Features”) that generate responses using third-party large language models (currently OpenAI's GPT and Anthropic's Claude), and uses OpenAI, Voyage AI, or a configured gateway for certain semantic-search embeddings. These include the Feasy, Feasy Evolved, and Lexicon chats, Behold image descriptions, personal study plans, Scripture explanations, course feedback, reading-group overviews, and automated replies to public news comments. By using AI Features, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Not advice. AI output is generated from statistical patterns and is provided for educational and reflective purposes only. It is not a substitute for counsel from a qualified priest, pastor, spiritual director, physician, attorney, financial advisor, mental-health professional, or any other licensed professional.
• May be inaccurate. AI responses can be incomplete, misleading, or factually wrong, including in matters of theology, history, Scripture, and citation. You are responsible for verifying any information before relying on it.
• Sent to third parties. Your prompts, conversation history, submitted course work, selected study context, public comments receiving automated replies, and photos submitted to Behold may be transmitted to the providers identified for that feature in our Privacy Policy. Do not submit personal confidences, confessions, medical information, legal matters, passwords, payment data, or other sensitive information through the AI Features, and do not upload photos of other people without their agreement.
• Voice processing. Web voice input is sent to OpenAI to produce a transcript. The iOS app uses Apple Speech Recognition on-device when supported and may otherwise send audio to Apple for server-based recognition. If you request spoken output, the generated reply text is sent to ElevenLabs to create audio. Feason does not intentionally store the raw recording after recognition completes, but the transcript may be saved when you send it as a message or use it in a memorization feature.
• Logged. We retain AI conversation transcripts associated with your account so you can revisit or delete them. Provider retention and model-improvement rules differ: OpenAI and Anthropic commercial API defaults generally use limited retention and no model training, while Voyage AI and ElevenLabs may apply broader standard data-use settings unless account-level controls apply. See the Privacy Policy before using these features.
• Prohibited AI uses. You may not use the AI Features to attempt prompt injection or jailbreak attacks, to extract the system prompt, to generate content that violates Section 7, to reverse-engineer the underlying model, or to build a competing product.
• Not emergency help. AI Features cannot contact emergency services, reliably recognize a crisis, or replace immediate help from a trusted person or qualified professional. If you or someone else may be in danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource directly.

7. Acceptable Use

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. Feason has no tolerance for objectionable, abusive, or harmful content or conduct. By using the Service you agree not to post objectionable content or engage in abusive behavior toward other users. We remove objectionable content and eject users who engage in abusive behavior, typically within 24 hours of becoming aware of it. This is a condition of your continued use of the Service.

You agree not to:

• Violate any applicable law or the rights of others;
• Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, obscene, sexually explicit, or that incites violence;
• Exploit, sexualize, groom, endanger, or solicit personal information from a minor, or post child sexual abuse material;
• Encourage suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, terrorism, or violent wrongdoing, or provide instructions intended to facilitate serious harm;
• Share another person's private information, intimate imagery, likeness, or communications without the rights or permission required by law;
• Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
• Post spam, chain messages, scams, fraudulent solicitations, malware, or phishing content, or manipulate engagement or reporting systems;
• Share links to illegal downloads, pirated media, or content whose distribution violates intellectual-property rights;
• Upload images or other content that is obscene, violent, or that infringes intellectual-property or publicity rights;
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest content from the Service except via features we expose for that purpose;
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, bypass rate limits, or interfere with its operation;
• Evade a suspension, content filter, safety control, or moderation decision, or make knowingly false reports to harass another person;
• Use the Service, or data obtained from it, to train machine-learning models or to develop a competing service;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion, with or without notice.

Good-faith theological disagreement, lament, doubt, criticism, and discussion across Christian traditions are not violations merely because they are unpopular. The same safety rules apply regardless of a user's denomination, tradition, or viewpoint.

8. Reporting & Moderation

You can report any gleam or other user-posted content using the in-app Report button, or by contacting us. We review reports in good faith and may remove content, notify the author, and — in the case of repeated or serious violations — restrict or terminate the offending account. We use automated checks on some submissions to identify likely safety or community-culture violations and may ask you to revise a submission or prevent it from being posted. These checks can make mistakes and do not replace reports or human review. We have no obligation to pre-screen every submission and reserve the right to remove content and take action at our discretion.

Our Community Guidelines explain these standards in plain language. We may preserve content and related records when reasonably needed to investigate a report, protect a person, address repeat abuse, comply with law, or review an appeal. Do not misuse reporting tools or submit reports you know are false.

Notice of removal. When we remove your content for a Terms violation, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you of the removal, typically with a brief explanation. If you believe your content was removed in error, you may contact us through the Contact page to request review.

Blocking. You can block any other member at any time from their profile. Blocked members cannot send you direct messages, and blocking is mutual for messaging purposes. Blocking is available in addition to reporting and does not require you to give a reason.

Repeat violators. Users who repeatedly post spam, harassing content, or links to malware, phishing, or illegal material may have their accounts suspended or terminated. Copyright-infringement repeat-offender policy is addressed separately in our DMCA Policy.

Nonconsensual intimate images. A person shown in an intimate image or video published without consent, or someone authorized to act for that person, may use our Intimate Image Removal process without an account. After a valid request, we will remove the identified depiction as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours and make reasonable efforts to remove known identical copies within the same period.

9. Fellowship & Public Content

Some features (such as Gleams, Articles, fellowship verse comments, and public profiles) make your content visible to other users and, in some cases, to the public internet. Do not post anything you do not want visible. You are solely responsible for your public content, and we may remove it if it violates these Terms.

Direct messages. Direct messaging is available only between members who follow each other and are both 18 or older. Direct messages are private between you and the other member, but they are not end-to-end encrypted: they are encrypted in transit and at rest, and authorized staff may review messages that are reported or flagged in order to respond to abuse, enforce these Terms, keep members safe, or comply with the law. The Acceptable Use rules in Section 7 apply to direct messages the same as to public content.

Other members can save, copy, or share content they receive. Do not use direct messages for emergencies or send information you cannot safely disclose to the recipient.

Church connections and visit requests. Following a church and choosing “My Church” can reveal a religious affiliation. A My Church connection is private by default; if you choose public visibility, it may appear on your public profile. Church owners and administrators can see connection requests and the profile name and image associated with them, but the connection does not give a church access to journals, private study activity, messages, or inferred interests. If you send a plan-a-visit request, you direct Feason to share the name, email, planned date, and message you provide with that church’s owners and administrators so they can respond.

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, trademarks, and curated content (excluding User Content and third-party Scripture texts), is owned by Feason and protected by intellectual-property laws. Bible texts and dictionary entries are provided by third-party sources under their respective licenses. See our DMCA Policy for takedown requests.

11. Account Termination & Data Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings or by contacting us. When an in-app deletion succeeds, we remove your account, public posts and replies, private messages, uploaded files, saved drafts and lecture notes, linked product analytics and email delivery records, signed-in plan-a-visit requests, private Feason Context study and research data, connected-client credentials and grants, and other account-associated personal data. Shared group content or scheduling records that other members still rely on may remain after we remove your profile and account identifiers from those records. Lecture notes taken while signed out live only in your browser and are not ours to delete — clear them in the feature or by clearing that browser's site data. We may retain only limited records where required by law or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement of these Terms. Any retained data remains protected and is deleted when the applicable retention need ends.

Export anything you wish to keep before deleting your account. Account deletion is irreversible once completed and does not require us to restore data from backups. It ends access to purchased account features and does not itself request or guarantee a refund. Account deletion does not cancel a recurring gift or a subscription managed by a church, Stripe, or Apple; use that provider's cancellation controls separately. Device-only records, including iOS Challenges and local course notebooks, are outside the server-account deletion process and should be removed on the device before deleting your account. Shared church-organization, verification, and financial transaction records may remain where needed for organizational continuity, accounting, disputes, fraud prevention, or legal compliance after the departing Feason account identifier is removed.

We may suspend or terminate your access for any violation of these Terms, for suspected fraud or abuse, or if we are required to do so by law.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT (INCLUDING AI OUTPUT) ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE. USER CONTENT AND THIRD-PARTY CONTENT REFLECT THEIR AUTHORS' VIEWS, NOT FEASON'S, AND WE DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY SPIRITUAL, EDUCATIONAL, HEALTH, OR OTHER OUTCOME FROM USING THE SERVICE.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FEASON AND ITS OFFICERS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY AI OUTPUT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability; in those jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for our fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence where applicable law does not permit that limitation.

14. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Feason and its officers, contributors, and licensors for third-party claims and reasonable resulting costs caused by your unlawful User Content, material breach of these Terms, or violation of another person's rights. This does not cover losses caused by Feason's own unlawful conduct, negligence, or breach, and does not limit mandatory consumer rights. Feason will notify you of a claim and give you a reasonable opportunity to participate in its defense; no settlement may impose an obligation on you without your consent.

15. Third-Party Services & Affiliate Links

The Service integrates with third-party providers (authentication, hosting, AI inference, advertising measurement, Scripture text, video embedding, and dictionary APIs). Your use of those providers' features may be subject to their own terms. Feason is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program; when you click affiliate links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Feason is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a representative of any church, denomination, or religious organization; references to churches, doctrines, or traditions do not imply any partnership or endorsement.

Web voice transcription may be provided by OpenAI, iOS speech recognition by Apple, voice output by ElevenLabs, semantic-search embeddings by OpenAI, Voyage AI, or Vercel AI Gateway, and church search by Google Maps. Third-party links and services are controlled by their operators, not Feason. We are not responsible for their availability, content, security, or privacy practices, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.

Live Flock voice rooms. If you join a live voice room and enable your microphone, your live audio and the participant/room connection metadata needed to run the call transit LiveKit and are audible to the room's other participants. This is separate from Feason's voice-transcription features. Feason's current web and iOS implementations do not request LiveKit Egress, agent recording, or another recording or transcription process for these rooms, but cannot prevent another participant from hearing or unlawfully capturing what you say. Do not share information you do not want the room's participants to hear. LiveKit may retain limited operational, security, diagnostic, and usage records under its agreement with Feason and its documented policies.

Stripe. Stripe processes web course purchases and, when enabled, giving through a church’s connected Stripe account. Stripe receives the contact, transaction, payment, fraud-prevention, and device information needed for checkout. Feason does not store full card or bank-account details. For direct gifts through a connected account, the identified church is the merchant and recipient of record; the church, not Feason, receives the funds and is responsible for donor support, receipts, refunds, disputes, and statements about tax deductibility.

iOS install attribution. Some iOS app versions currently in circulation include Meta Core and AppsFlyer Strict to measure which campaign led to an installation and to detect attribution fraud. Feason disables Meta automatic events and advertising- identifier collection; AppsFlyer Strict removes IDFA collection and the AdSupport dependency. Feason does not send either provider your Feason account, content, religious interests, purchase or course activity, or later in-app behavior. Apple may send delayed, aggregated SKAdNetwork postback copies to AppsFlyer. These disclosures continue to apply to an earlier installed build until that device updates or removes it, even if a later version removes an attribution SDK. Provider handling is explained in our Privacy Policy.

YouTube. The Lecture feature plays video through the embedded YouTube player, which is a YouTube API Service. By using it you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and information handled by the player is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Feason does not host, store, download, or transcode any video: you supply a link and the player streams it from YouTube. You agree not to use the feature to download, copy, or redistribute video, or otherwise in a way that violates YouTube's terms or the rights of a video's owner. Videos are chosen by you, are not reviewed, endorsed, or moderated by us, and are not part of the Service's content.

16. Paid Features

The Service includes free features and may offer optional paid features. The price, what the purchase unlocks, whether it is one-time or recurring, and any renewal or cancellation terms are presented before checkout. The current web theology-course unlock is a one-time purchase processed by Stripe, not an automatically renewing subscription. Access continues while the applicable course and Service remain available and your account remains in good standing; a refund, chargeback, account deletion, or violation of these Terms may end access.

Unless a different policy is shown before purchase, contact us through the Support page to request help with a web purchase or refund. We handle refunds as stated at checkout and as required by applicable law. Purchases made inside the iOS app, if offered, are processed by Apple under Apple's payment and refund terms. Paid features do not limit your ability to export or delete your own data.

Church giving is separate from purchasing Feason features. A one-time or monthly gift is made to the church identified at checkout through its own giving provider or connected Stripe account. The selected cadence and amount are shown before payment. Contact the church or its payment provider for receipts, cancellation of a recurring gift, refunds, disputes, or tax questions. Feason does not promise that a gift is tax deductible.

17. Apple App Store

If you use the Service through our iOS app downloaded from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply: (a) these Terms are between you and Feason only, not with Apple, and Feason — not Apple — is solely responsible for the app and its content; (b) Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the app; (c) in the event the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app; (d) Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer-protection claims; (e) in the event of a third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual-property rights, Feason — not Apple — is responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim; (f) you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and (g) Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with respect to the iOS app and may enforce them against you.

18. Governing Law; Dispute Resolution

California law governs these Terms, subject to consumer protections that cannot be waived under the law that applies to you. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the arbitration agreement below. Consumers outside the United States are not required by these Terms to arbitrate and retain any mandatory right to use their local courts.

Informal resolution. Before starting arbitration, either party will send the other a written description of the dispute and requested relief and allow 30 days for a good-faith attempt to resolve it. Send notices to the email or mailing address in Section 20; we will use your account contact details. This process does not prevent a small-claims filing, a report to an agency, urgent court relief, or a filing needed to preserve a claim before a legal deadline expires.

Arbitration for U.S. consumers. If you are a U.S. consumer and do not opt out, you and Feason agree to arbitrate unresolved disputes individually through JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Consumer Arbitration Minimum Standards. The consumer standards control any conflicting term here. You may participate remotely; any in-person hearing must be at a location that does not prevent your access. For a claim you initiate, your required JAMS fee will not exceed $250, or a lower amount required by law or JAMS. Feason pays the remaining JAMS and arbitrator fees, and all such fees for a claim Feason initiates. Applicable law controls any award of attorneys' fees. Arbitration provides a neutral decision-maker, relevant information exchange, and a written decision.

Preserved rights. Either party may bring an eligible small-claims case. You may contact regulators or law enforcement. All remedies required by law remain available; no provision waives a right to seek public injunctive relief. A request for relief that cannot lawfully be arbitrated must be heard in court. For claims properly subject to individual arbitration, both parties waive a jury trial and class or representative proceedings, only to the extent the law permits.

Opt-out. Within 30 days after you first accept this September 19, 2026 revision, you may reject arbitration by emailing info@feason.com with the subject “Arbitration Opt-Out” or mailing notice to Feason LLC, 2108 N St # 16806, Sacramento, CA 95816, USA. Include your name, the email associated with your account (if any), and a statement that you opt out. The email must be sent or the mailed notice postmarked within that 30-day period. Timely opt-out removes the arbitration requirement and the associated class-action waiver without affecting access to the Service. We will honor any earlier valid opt-out. A later material arbitration change requires notice and renewed acceptance, with another 30-day opportunity to opt out, and will not apply retroactively to a dispute already notified to us.

Either party may request urgent court relief to prevent imminent harm. If JAMS cannot administer a dispute consistently with these consumer protections and the parties cannot agree on another provider, the dispute may proceed in court. Non-arbitrable disputes may be brought in the state or federal courts serving Sacramento County, California, subject to any mandatory right to another forum. A court decides whether an arbitration or waiver provision is enforceable. An invalid restriction does not eliminate a nonwaivable claim or remedy. This Section survives account termination.

19. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and DMCA Policy, together with the process described in Intimate Image Removal, constitute the entire agreement between you and Feason regarding the Service.

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Section headings are for convenience only. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnification, dispute resolution, and this Section—will survive.
