Carlo Acutis
1991 – 2006
Saint Carlo Acutis was an Italian teenager canonized in 2025. Explore his October 12 feast, digital work, Eucharistic devotion, and the documented timeline.
A Teenager in London and Milan
Carlo Acutis was born in London to Italian parents and grew up in Milan. His short life included school, friendships, sport, and parish participation. He died of leukemia in 2006 at fifteen. These ordinary circumstances are important because later fame can make a recently lived childhood seem like a collection of symbols rather than a human life.1
Computer Skills and Religious Projects
Acutis used his interest in computers for parish and religious projects, including material about reported Eucharistic miracles. The existence of that digital work can be documented separately from the supernatural claims collected in it. Describing him as a young creator is therefore different from treating every event presented by his projects as an independently established historical or scientific conclusion.1
Devotion in a Catholic Setting
Catholic accounts emphasize Acutis’s participation in Mass, confession, and Eucharistic adoration, together with practical concern for others. These practices explain the church’s reading of his life. They are named as Catholic commitments, rather than assumed to be observances shared in the same form by every Christian tradition. The profile also avoids attributing unverifiable internet quotations to him.12
Canonization in 2025 and the October 12 Feast
Leo XIV canonized Acutis with Pier Giorgio Frassati on September 7, 2025. His commemoration falls on October 12, the anniversary of his death. The completed canonization is documented by the Vatican’s own liturgy and homily; older articles calling him Blessed reflect an earlier stage. His reception shows how Catholic sainthood is being interpreted within a digitally connected generation.12
