All things are possible through Christ. That’s what I remind myself when my mind starts to race. Sometimes the mind can feel like a battlefield, filled with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, and self doubt. These are things we wouldn’t choose for ourselves, and often they pull us away from what is true. That’s why seeking truth through the Word of God is so important. Scripture says in Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.” What makes this even more powerful is that Paul wrote this while he was in prison. Even in that situation, he chose to fix his mind on what is true. It reminds us that we have a choice in what we focus on, and that our thoughts shape our emotions.

Challenges are usually the first thing that come to mind when I think about finding peace. Sometimes, what we really need is to slow down, calm our thoughts, and meditate with God. But that might raise the question, meditation? Does that mean sitting cross legged and aligning chakras? Not exactly. In the Christian sense, meditation is about filling the mind with truth and fixing our focus on what is honorable, right, pure, and praiseworthy.

Godly people in Scripture practiced this intentionally. As it says in Psalm 119:15, “I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways,” and in Psalm 143:5, “I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands.”

Maybe the battlefield in your mind isn’t something to fear, but a reminder of how much your thoughts need truth. What matters is that you return to God and fix your mind on Him. That’s where the change begins. As your mind is renewed, your life will follow.
